Planning is in progress for a mixed-use development of 14 residential and three commercial units near Woodlawn Church which will benefit from the local school, motorway and rail connectivity and paths through the estate. The buildings are sympathetically designed to maintain a low profile and blend in with the local landscape. Provision has also been made for a caretakers residence to ensure the long-term viability of the development.
Accommodation and facilities are necessary to accommodate workers during restoration phase and provide facilities amenities for local community and for visitors. There are currently no public amenities in the area. Returning retired migrants as in ‘Safe Home’ program may avail of accommodation and provide source for part time employees – e.g. as tour guides, supervision, hospitality and catering.
As well as providing services and infrastructure to the site the development will also financially support the further restoration of the main house and outbuildings.
